Keep garage doors closed and sealed with weather stripping

Open kitchen and bathroom cabinets to allow warm air to reach the plumbing

If you have young children or pets remove any chemicals.

Keep your thermostat set to a warm temperature. If you're leaving town, set it to no lower than 60 degrees.

Consider shutting off your water supply at your home's main valve.

Be sure to drain your pipes by turning on your faucets before leaving the home for long periods of time

If your pipes freeze: turn on the taps, try to warm the affected area with a hair dryer and call a plumber.

If you experience a burst in the pipe: immediately shut off the water at your home's main valve.
Locate this valve ahead of time.

Tip - Check the insulation in your attic

Insulation in your home provides resistance to heat flow.

The more heat flow resistance your insulation provides, the lower your heating and cooling

Properly insulating your home not only reduces heating and cooling
costs, but also improves comfort.
